Post-Doc Research Associate. We are researching ways to help achieve sustainable agriculture using Randomised Controlled Trials and the Hestia Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) models of the carbon, water scarcity, acidification, eutrophication, biodiversity, and other impacts of agriculture.
Consultant
Advisor to Lewis Pugh, UNEP Patron of the Ocean. I provided Lewis Pugh with science and advice on climate and marine conservation for his campaigns, meetings with heads of state, and speeches e.g. TEDGlobal. I was also advisor to CIWF after my role at CIWF outlined below.
Compassion in World Farming
Senior Research Manager. I led a team of experts in education, animal welfare, sustainability and information management. We provided daily support across the organization, produced 20 reports, briefings, papers and articles, delivered several speeches, and initiated Compassion’s Centre of Excellence. This role involved me heading up the Research and Education team planning, budgeting and reporting, and liaising with other teams, as well as managing and writing a large portfolio of reports to support the campaigns of the organization. These were designed and written for differing audiences from the public to UN delegates; and from journalists to academics. I also undertook advocacy work directly, representing Compassion at the UNFAO Committee on Food Security negotiations.
FCRN
Food Climate Research Network: Researcher. Researching and helping FCRN develop a network of practitioners and academics working on mitigating climate change through the food sector; design a new website, research library, newsletters; and writing web-articles.
WWF
Research and Policy Officer. I contracted, managed, co-wrote, and launched a number of reports and policy areas. I worked closely with other relevant teams to ensure that impacts of climate change on the seas were understood and mitigated. I also worked with industry and government on behalf of WWF and WCLink, with some major successes. I gave several high level presentations to paying public and scientific audiences in addition to media interviews.
